Project Jamaica

After Hurricane Melissa — not a marketing story. A rebuild, from community to community!

One Love.

— Dennis · Founder

For years I built inside structures others had designed. Functional. Profitable. Hollow.

I thought I was building a business. In truth, I was looking for a way out.

Jamaica gave that search a completely new direction. I didn't travel there as a tourist. I went to find something — at the time, I didn't even know what. What I found was Hurricane Melissa.

“I saw no victims. I saw people who had lost everything — and who were already standing back up before the storm clouds had cleared.”

The Rasta communities I met after Melissa had nothing left materially. And yet — the speed, the dignity, and the depth with which they turned toward each other, shared, helped each other back up — stripped away something in me that had calcified over years.

I came back a different person. Budborn isn't a product to scale. It's something meant to truly serve the people it reaches.

1.000€+
donated privately — before a platform existed
Real
real connections to affected communities
Communities that deserve what solidarity can give
Zero
Corporate funding. This is community-financed.

We didn't wait for a platform launch to act. We transferred money directly and privately to people we knew needed it — because that's what you do when you've understood that community is not a marketing concept. It is the only infrastructure that has never failed.

— The Vision
At our core, we are all capable of providing for ourselves. We have simply forgotten how.
A real community is not an audience. Not a follower count. They are people who show up — especially when it costs something.
Growunity was the first word written down. Before Budborn existed. Before any of this had a name.
“Together we grow. Together we let grow. Together we build something that belongs to all of us.”
From grower to grower. Without intermediaries. Without institutional distance between people.
What the plant gave me in my darkest time — I want to give back entirely. To whoever needs it most.

The moment we found out we could fly to Jamaica ❤️💛💚 on short notice, we got moving – packed goodie bags with our kids. If you get one of these bags – upload a photo, tag us, drop a message. My kids will be over the moon seeing their bags traveled halfway around the world to people who need really help. People left behind by their own government, depending on solidarity from outside. Our mission: a 100% non-commercial community – worldwide. Projekt Afrika next. One Love 🦁

...no AI bullshit ✌️ This is what we can get done until we get evacuated back to Germany. Strong like lions 🦁 with two handfuls of people 💪 This is all we can do at this moment. Once we're back in Germany, we're launching a GoFundMe right away. https://www.gofundme.com/f/hilfe-fur-montego-bay-nach-hurrikan-melissa @the German grower scene – this link is live and the people in Jamaica need our help🎁🌞

While everyone else was still in the evacuation center, we were the first ones outside. The air was still, the sun broke through the clouds – and in front of us lay what Melissa had left behind. A moment I'll never forget...

“Together we grow. Together we let grow. Together we build something that belongs to all of us.”
